HOBART MEATS: A FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS FOR 100 YEARS

Pete Uremovich moved his family to Northwest Indisna from Croatia in the early 1900's He started a small meat business on 13th street in Hobart. Bob Uremovich grew up working in the family business. In the early 1940's Bob  and his brother John started Uremovich Brothers Meats, specializing in wholesale veal. A few years later, Bob started Hobart Meats on 3rd Street in Hobart. The Uremovich family has been in the meat business for more than 100 years in the Calumet Region. Bob grew this small business into one of the top slaughter and packing houses in northwest Indiana.

Bob’s passion for providing quality meats and customer service. 

Mike and Cheryl Uremovich bought Hobart Meats in 2020 and are planning on growing the business to the next level. Expanded retail space, farm to table beef, pork and lamb. New and improved roaster rentals, sausage, chops, burger, ribs and more. While still providing the quality and customer service Hobart Meats has been known for.
